|The 2-1-1 Texas/United Way HELPLINE answered a record 922,700 calls for help in 2011, a 15 percent increase over the previous year's call volume. Basic needs, like food, utilities and health care, topped the list of requests in 2011, followed by rent assistance and help finding shelter.
