In difficult times, the leaders among us rise up with renewed willingness to tackle the biggest challenges. They look at our city and see not only the problems, but the possibilities. They have a vision for the future and a plan for getting there. They are United Way's Alexis de Tocqueville Society members, the cornerstone of United Way, and they believe in a future of possibilities. In 2009-10, 745 Alexis de Tocqueville Society members personally contributed $10,000 or more, raising an incredible $12.5 million for our community.
A group of committed leaders have come together to establish a Challenge Match fund to encourage new and increased giving. Their generosity leverages members' contributions, and makes an even greater impact on our community.
The Alexis de Tocqueville Society hosts a number of networking and social events throughout the year. Events scheduled for the 2010-11 campaign year include:
November 10, 2010 - Reception at the home of Gerald and Anita Smith
February 28, 2011 - Annual Appreciation Dinner at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston
April 13, 2011 - Dinner Honoring Major Donors (for contributors of $25,000 or more) at Rienzi
