Melanie Gray

Melanie Gray is a partner in the international law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where she practices complex commercial litigation and co-chairs the bankruptcy litigation group. She is noted for her management of complicated multi-party cases, such as the Enron bankruptcy. While a young lawyer on maternity leave, she was named partner, the first associate ever to do so; she has created opportunities for and mentored women in the firm ever since. Gray has served as a faculty member for the Advanced Trial Advocacy Program of the University of Houston Law Center, taught at the National Institute of Trial Attorneys and the National Business Institute. She has been recognized as a Texas Monthly Super Lawyer and one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Texas. A dedicated mother of three, wife of a busy attorney, devoted and attentive friend to many, Gray is also a committed volunteer and board member. Girl's Inc. recognized her leadership as Board Chair with its highest honor, The Smart, Bold and Strong Award, and she has been honored as a Houston Woman on the Move. Currently, Gray is heading Planned Parenthood's capital campaign and the national capital campaign for her law school alma mater, Syracuse University. She is a member of Leadership Houston, serves on the board of the Society for the Performing Arts and delights in collecting art, traveling and enjoying family ski trips in Utah.
