Sharon Michael Owens is the Vice President of CenterPoint Energy's Corporate Community Relations Department. She oversees the strategic development of CenterPoint Energy's community-based programs, specializing in education and consumer affairs. In addition to overseeing the company's corporate giving, Owens is responsible for maintaining relationships with key business units and district offices to ensure that community relationship initiatives are implemented and supported. Under her direction, Corporate Community Relations for CenterPoint Energy has been restructured and redesigned, placing it among the top corporations recognized for leadership within the Houston community. While in this role, the number of employee volunteer hours has increased to 124,000 - the highest achieved since the program's beginning in 1985. Owens has served in various roles at CenterPoint Energy for 30 years. Owens sewed as President of the American Leadership Forum, Second Vice President and Board Member of the Houston Branch NAACP, The Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Board and the National Board of Leadership America. She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her leadership and community service.
