As president of Burnett Staffing Specialists, Sue Burnett has impacted the staffing industry in Texas for 33 yean. Each month, Burnett provides employment for over 6,000 temporary workers, 104 full-time staff members and places direct hire employees. Her company is recognized as Texas' top woman-owned staffing organization and ranked as Texas' fifth largest woman-owned business by DiversityBusiness.com. Burnett initiated "The Best Places to Work" awards in Houston. These awards are now given to companies who provide top benefits and friendly work environments in Austin, Dallas and San Antonio, as well. Burnett was presented the Pinnacle Award by the Better Business Bureau in 2006. She has also been named the Woman Business Entrepreneur of the Year by the Women's Business Enterprise Alliance, Woman Business Owner of the Year and Community Service Award by the National Association of Women Business Owners, Women's Enterprise Woman of Excellence and Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year. Burnett serves on the board of directors of Goodwill Industries and the Better Business Bureau, as well as the Houston Community College Advisory Board and the Economic Development Committee of the Greater Houston Partnership. Through various organizations, Burnett invests a great deal of her free time mentoring other women business owners and women seeking to enrich their career paths.
