Who are United Way Young Leaders?
Young Leaders are individuals under 45 who contribute $1,000 or more annually to the United Way of Greater Houston. They are well informed of the needs of the community and are leading their peers to "Do Something About It."
What kinds of opportunities are offered to Young Leaders?
Young Leader members enjoy a full roster of educational, social, and service events designed to help them improve their leadership skills and expand their personal and professional contacts. Leadership development, business networking, volunteer and social opportunities, recognition in the leadership giving roster, special communications are some of the unique benefits of being a Young Leader.
Why should I become a Young Leader?
Through leadership development, volunteerism, and networking, Young Leaders strive to educate other young business professionals about the work of the United Way of Greater Houston and about the importance of a leadership gift.
How many Young Leaders are there?
Over 2,300 members have been identified for the 2008-09 Campaign. These generous young professionals contributed over $4.1 million for Houston's children, families, seniors, and lives.
Who plans the Young Leaders annual activities?
Annual activities for Young Leaders are planned by an appointed chair and the Young Leaders Council. The Council is comprised of representatives who work for companies that run United Way campaigns.
What activities can I look forward to?
- Luncheon with Leaders are intimate networking luncheons with prominent local leaders
- Developing Leaders Series are leadership development workshops featuring topics such as board development, coaching, and much more
- Community Service Projects permit members and their families to volunteer for projects that improve neighborhoods and strength our community
- Networking and Social Events allow members to expand their personal and professional networks
