Board & Advisory Committee Workshop
Event Purpose
As we explore ways to build and deepen relationships with our Young Leaders, we also seek to offer programs that will not only benefit you the donor, but the entire Houston community.
The United Way Young Leaders Board & Advisory Committee Workshop is designed to remove the mystery around serving on a nonprofit board or advisory committee and help emerging leaders feel more confident about getting involved at this level.
We will provide a learning opportunity that includes theory as well as real-world experiences. What better way to glean knowledge and wisdom then from our own seasoned volunteers? They’ll share personal thoughts, experiences and lessons learned, helping to light the path and provide a clearer direction for professionals as they enter the world of philanthropy. So, come mix, mingle and get to know leaders in our community!
Event Description
The orientation will consist of two 2-hour sessions scheduled for Thursday, May 6th, 5:30 – 7:30 and Thursday May 13th, 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. The dates were selected strategically to be aligned with our annual Board Fair which is scheduled for Thursday, May 13th at 5:00. With the information fresh in your mind, those who are ready can attend the Board Fair and speak directly with agencies about current board/committee opportunities in their organizations.
