Campaign Highlights

We appreciate Fluor, which raised more than $617,900 this year, including a 50 percent company match. We are grateful for the leadership and support of Tom Zachman, senior vice president of Operations, and Matthew McSorley, vice president of Office Operations. We also thank Campaign Chairman Chris Devela and Co-Chairman Tomas Alvarez for running a great campaign!

Thanks to EOG Resources, Inc., which raised more than $370,100 for United Way this year, a 6 percent increase over last year. Results reflect a dollar-for-dollar company match. We appreciate the support of Chairman and CEO Mark G. Papa. We also thank Campaign Coordinators Teresa Kaplan and Dorothy Pflughaupt for an outstanding effort.  You do something about it!

Noble Energy raised more than $362,000 this year, including a dollar-for-dollar company match. Results reflect a 27 percent increase over 2008-09 results. We appreciate the leadership and support of President, CEO and Chairman of the Board Charles Davidson. We also thank Campaign Chairman James Burgess and Campaign Coordinator Maria Somoza for their hard work!

United Way salutes the Houston Chronicle, which raised more than $335,700 this year, including a 75 percent company match. We appreciate the strong support of Publisher and President Jack Sweeney. We also thank Campaign Chair Howard Decker and Campaign Coordinator Luz Diaz for another great campaign!

Congratulations to Wells Fargo, which raised more than $317,400 for United Way this year. We appreciate the leadership and support of President of the Texas Region Chip Carlisle and Regional President for Houston Glenn Godkin. We also thank Campaign Coordinator Sondra Sullivan for her hard work and community spirit!

We thank Andrews Kurth LLP, which raised more than $308,800 this year, a 6 percent increase over last year. We appreciate the leadership and support of Managing Partners Robert Jewell and Tom Perich. We also thank Campaign Coordinators Brittany Thompson, Jonathan Day, Diana Hudson, Tom McConn and Callie Parker for their hard work this year. Thanks for supporting our community—the United Way!

Texas Instruments raised more than $276,900 for United Way this year, including a generous corporate gift. We thank Campaign Chairman Dave Deptula and Campaign Coordinator Donna Mandersheid for their leadership and dedication. Thanks for doing something about it!

We thank Cooper Industries, which raised more than $222,000 this year, a 5 percent increase over 2008-09 results. We appreciate and thank the entire Cooper team for their hard work and community spirit!

Congratulations to Riviana Foods, Inc., which raised more than $189,200 for United Way this year, an 11 percent increase over 2008-09. Results reflect a 50 percent company match. We thank President and CEO Bastiaan de Zeeuw for his leadership and support. We also thank Campaign Chair Steve Isaacson and Campaign Coordinator Cheryl Spencer for another great campaign!

We appreciate Weingarten Realty Investors, which raised more than $153,600 for United Way this year. We thank President and CEO Andrew Alexander for his leadership and support. We also thank Campaign Coordinator Amanda Ingersoll for doing something about it...the United Way!

Thanks to Target Stores, Inc., which raised more than $142,300 for United Way this year, including a generous corporate gift. Results reflect a 23 percent increase over 2008-09. We thank all of the Target store managers and employees for their commitment to our community!

Citation Oil & Gas Corporation raised more than $138,400 this year, a 2 percent increase over 2008-09. Results reflect a dollar-for-dollar company match. We are grateful for the leadership of President Curtis Harrell and Chairman Forrest Harrell, Sr. We also thank Campaign Coordinators Rosemary Quintanilla, Ann Rodriguez and Pam Wells for an outstanding effort!

We salute Barrios Technology, which raised more than $135,100 this year, a 46 percent increase over last year’s results. United Way appreciates the leadership and support of President Sandy Johnson. We also thank Campaign Coordinator Tracey Escamilla for her hard work and dedication! Thanks for supporting our community—the United Way!

We appreciate Valero Energy Corporation, which raised more than $130,500 for United Way this year, including a 50 percent company match. Results reflect a 13 percent increase over last year. We thank Bill Klesse, CEO and Chairman of the Board, for his leadership and support. We also thank Campaign Coordinator Linda McAllister for an outstanding effort! 

Congratulations to E I DuPont De Nemours, which raised more than $127,300 for United Way this year. We thank the following individuals for their leadership: Bobby Laughlin, La Porte plant manager; Janet Schepcoff, Bayport plant manager; Marlene Mercado, HMS Crop plant manager; and Earl Clark, DuPont Engineering manager of Regional Operations.  We also thank Campaign Chairman Bryanne Cyprien and Campaign Coordinators Amanda Conway, Brenda Thompson, Ehren Maund and Dawn Koceja for their hard work this year. We thank St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, which raised more than $123,900 for United Way this year, a 14 percent increase over 2008-09. We appreciate Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Bill Brosius and Vice President Susan R. Kiley, who created an educational and engaging campaign featuring United Way speakers and many special events. We also recognize Campaign Coordinators Anita Jain and Kajal Singh for providing the energy and enthusiasm for another great campaign!

Thanks to The Methodist Hospital System, which raised more than $112,000 for United Way this year. We appreciate the leadership and support of Executive Vice President Dr. Marc Boom and Campaign Chair and Vice President of Legal Services Amy Reddell. We also salute this year’s campaign team, including Toni Kesler, Dustin Meuth, Clint Nichols, Paul Stallings, Mona Seele and Amie Silcio-Smith, who represented locations across the city. Thank you for your “can-do” attitude!

We appreciate the support of Chairman of the Board Michael Linn and President and CEO Mark Ellis. Congratulations to BJ Services Company, which raised more than $104,500 this year, including a 50 percent company match. We are grateful for the support of Chairman, President and CEO Bill Stewart. We also thank Campaign Coordinator Amelia Tellis for her dedication this year!
