CenterPoint Energy's Record Campaign

Congratulations to CenterPoint Energy, which raised more than $1,863,000 for United Way of Greater Houston this year, a new record for the company. CenterPoint Energy’s outstanding results reflect a generous company match and a 2 percent increase over 2010-11 results.

"CenterPoint’s 2012 campaign theme, the Energy Force: Superheroes for United Way, proved to be both fun and descriptive," said David McClanahan, CenterPoint Energy president and chief executive officer. "Our generous and caring employees once again showed their commitment to our community through their support for United Way."

At their kickoff in September, CenterPoint Energy employees donned capes and masks and noshed on hero sandwiches. Throughout the campaign, CenterPoint Energy hosted a variety of fun superhero-themed events at their locations throughout the Greater Houston area. From BBQ luncheons and taco breakfasts to ice cream socials and pizza parties, CenterPoint Energy made sure that every employee had a chance to attend an event and learn about United Way and why their support matters.

CenterPoint Energy's 2011-12 campaign them was, "The Energy Force: Superheroes for United Way."

CenterPoint Energy employees got a firsthand look at how their donations make a difference during the 2011 Days of Caring. Employees participated in projects that involved cleaning up and landscaping, trimming, weeding and mulching. They also planted flower beds, painted and sorted and organized files.

“We are so grateful for the generosity and community spirit of our friends at CenterPoint Energy,” said United Way President and CEO Anna M. Babin. “They truly are superheroes who use their power to help United Way make Houston a great place to live and work.”

In addition to their strong workplace campaign, we appreciate CenterPoint Energy's participation as one of United Way of Greater Houston's 2011-12 Caring Champions. Caring Champions generously underwrite major events and initiatives during the campaign.
