Campaign Highlights
Congratulations to American General-VALIC-Western National, which raised more than $710,300 this year, including a 50 percent company match. Results reflect a 20 percent increase over the previous year. We appreciate the leadership of Mary Jane Fortin, president and CEO of American General Life Companies and United Way board member, as well as Bruce Abrams, president and CEO of VALIC/Western National Life. We also thank Campaign Chairmen Craig Cheyne and Rod Rishel and Campaign Coordinator Jennifer Waldner for running a great campaign this year!
Thanks to Hines, which raised more than $564,000 for United Way this year, including a generous company match, and reflecting a 33 percent increase over 2010-11 results. We appreciate the leadership and strong support of President Jeff Hines. We also thank Campaign Chairman George Lancaster and Campaign Coordinator Kim Jagger for their hard work and community spirit!
We appreciate Hess Corporation, which raised more than $490,000 for United Way this year, including a dollar-for-dollar company match. We thank Senior Vice President Bill Drennen for his leadership and support. We also thank Campaign Chairman Robert Erlich and campaign team members Rita Bayron, Valerie deGrood, Julie Stoval and Eric Walker for doing something about it—the United Way!
We salute AT&T/CWA, which raised more than $485,000 for United Way this year. We appreciate the leadership of Kerrick Henny, vice president of External Affairs, and Claude Cummings, Jr., president of CWA Local 6222. We also thank Campaign Chair Evelyn Smith and Campaign Coordinators Beverly Davis and Mary Groves for another outstanding campaign!
United Way thanks Kroger, which raised more than $263,600 for United Way this year, a 14 percent increase over the previous year. We appreciate the leadership and support of Southwest Division President Bill Breets. We also thank Campaign Coordinator Josh Rihn and all of the Houston-area Kroger employees for doing something bold for our community!

We appreciate the leadership and support of President John Nau, III. We salute the American Bureau of Shipping, which raised more than $198,600 this year, including a dollar-for-dollar company match. Results reflect a 32 percent increase over the previous year. We appreciate the leadership of Chairman Robert Somerville, President, CEO and COO Christopher Wiernicki, Vice President of Human Resources and Administration T. Ray Bennett and Senior Vice President and CFO Jeff Weiner. We also thank Campaign Chairman Adam Moilanen and Campaign Coordinator Marlene Stovall for running a great campaign!
