Cathy’s Story

A drug addict for half her life and homeless for several years, Cathy found herself trapped in a downward spiral.

She dreamed of being a great mother and a professional hair stylist, but she struggled to conquer her addiction. Through United Way, Cathy entered a residential treatment program where she found counseling, structure and the support she needed to truly change her life.

With United Way’s support, Cathy is seven years sober and has followed her dream of becoming a hair stylist. She is employed full-time and excited about what the future holds for her and her family. But more than anything, Cathy is grateful for the second chance that allowed her to be who she had always wanted to be.
