Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy discloses the general privacy practices of United Way of Greater Houston and its dealings with donor information, including but not limited to names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses, both online and offline.
How we use your information

United Way of Greater Houston does not trade, sell, or share donor information, nor does it send donor mailing on behalf of other organizations. We use personal information about you to improve our marketing efforts and content offerings. We may also use your personal information, such as your e-mail address, phone number, or mailing address, to contact you regarding the work and impact of United Way.

We have today, and will in the future have, arrangements with third party service providers, such as credit card processors and mailing vendors. In order to provide some services, we may be required to share information with that provider in order to provide the service. These third party providers are not permitted to retain or use personal information for any purpose unrelated to providing the service.

We reserve the right to disclose personal information when needed to comply with the law or a legal process, cooperate with investigations of purported unlawful activities, to identify persons violating the law, or in connection with the sale of part or all of United Way of Greater Houston's or its affiliate's stock or assets.

Children's Privacy
In accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, we will never knowingly request or solicit personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent. In the event that we receive actual knowledge that we have collected such personal information without the requisite and verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information from our database as quickly as is practical.

Opting-Out
You may choose to opt-out of sharing personal information in several ways. If you receive communications from us that you prefer not to receive, you may opt out from receiving these communications, either by specifically indicating this preference in a communication to us or by selecting an opt-out option. You may also choose to have your name removed from our database by contacting unitedwayofgreaterhouston@unitedwayhouston.org.

Effective Date and Changes
This Privacy Policy is effective as of December 5, 2017. United Way of Greater Houston reserves the right to modify the terms of this policy at any time and in our sole discretion, by posting a change notice to this page. By continuing to support or engage with United Way of Greater Houston after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.
